Over the course of a school year Fielding High School students completed a project building sidecars with the help of Fibreglass Developments staff.
For three Year 13 students from Fielding High School, 2013 was a year of new challenges. Karel Beukes, Tanek Gardner and Toby White have stepped up to the mark and designed and developed sidecars based on Formula 2 side cars in a newly established class at the school. The sidecars have been made to take part in the annual mini-moto interschool competition.
FDL was approached by the students to help with making of the sidecars. The boys made moulds from polystyrene and carved out the shape they wanted with a barbecue cleaning tool. All work involved was undertaken by the students with advice and tips given by FDL staff. The three boys have learnt and done every aspect of the process themselves from design through to manufacture and the finished product speaks for itself - the sidecars look fantastic.
The boys did their school and us proud by not only getting around the track but also winning some of the categories that they entered.
