Established in 1978, Fibreglass Developments Ltd (FDL) expanded from its original 1600 sq. ft. workshop to occupy some 44,000 sq. ft. in the present factory - located in Feilding, near Palmerston North, New Zealand. From our centrally located facility, we produce a wide range of products for a large variety of industries throughout New Zealand. FDL has its own portfolio of products including Steridor and Plyglas.
Our specialty is developmental work on behalf of clients - whether designing improvements to an existing product, or developing a totally new product whose generic form is not normally produced in composites.
The FDL team is led by owner and Managing Director, Steve Bond, who has been involved in the fibreglass industry for over 35 years. With 24 staff, he is supported by a solid core of very experienced long-serving employees who are dedicated to the success of the company and are committed to the company's guaranteed standards of quality and service.
Fibreglass Developments Ltd is a member of the Composites Association of New Zealand Inc.

FDL offers a complete project management services, from scoping customers requirements, through design, manufacture, finishing and installation if required. This is not always limited to composites, and our broad network of subcontractors and customers gives us the ability to choose the optimum process and material for your project. We have never been a company that would insist on Composites when another material will be better suited. We have, on the other hand, pointed out where composites are more suited, and have made significant savings for our customers, by doing a redesign to achieve a better product and/or better cost. We like to call this the unseen advantage of working with FDL.

Other Services
In January 2010, we welcomed X-Form onto our site with a 5-axis CNC router. This now gives us the ability to finish parts to much more demanding tolerances and complex trimming and drilling details, without a high dependency on skilled labour to achieve the same result. Medium to large run products with a closed moulding process now becomes achievable at much lower costs than previously obtained.
We have also made use of this service for the drilling of fixtures, such as Radomes, that have very tight tolerance requirements. Accuracy can be consistently achieved using the CNC Router which means less wastage, better quality and lower costs.
Highly accurate tooling can also be produced using this machine.
