MRI Caravan
In 2024, FDL built a caravan shell for Canopy Healthcare's MRI machine and are currently in the process of building another. The design concept was patient-focused and emphasised relaxation, comfort, and promoted a calm atmosphere, as a scan in an MRI machine can be a daunting and anxiety-inducing experience for some patients - particularly children.
Canopy health endeavoured to make their patients' experience more comfortable and proposed a beach or camping scene. The outcome of the design process, created by Toast design, were walls painted with the calming imagery of a forest scene, and the intimidating MRI was softened under the guise of a Retro Caravan. FDL was commissioned to turn this into reality, and the result is a perfect example of the benefits of composites.
The caravan shell was transported to and assembled at Canopy Healthcare and can be easily disassembled for servicing when required.
