Fibreglass Tank Lining
Fibreglass can be used to line tanks used to store corrosives such as acid and other liquids with a high chemical content that can eat away at other lining materials. It is suitable for applying to concrete, steel or timber tanks. Fibreglass offers strong acid and chemical resistance, and the use of epoxy resin provides alkaline resistance.
FDL recently lined some concrete acid tanks for Webforge in Palmerston North. The base primer coat of Vinyl Ester resin was sprayed onto well-cured clean concrete, and then two layers of 450 Chopped Strand Mat were rolled on and infused with resin.

Finally a layer of surface tissue was applied, and the tank lining was then finished with a layer of Flowcoat. The tanks were covered with plastic and heated to a temperature of 60ºC for four hours. This post curing ensured that the optimum chemical resistant properties of the resin are met.

The finished tanks will be lined with timber to provide protection from steel impact.
Fibreglass linings can provide you with a durable long lasting waterproof coating for your tanks, and they are easily repaired if necessary. How can we help you?
